FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Does it eliminate soot and toxins from traditional burning?

Yes! Auren’s candle warmers provide a clean, flameless way to enjoy your candles. Since there’s no combustion, they eliminate soot, smoke, and airborne toxins that traditional burning can produce. This makes them a healthier option for homes with pets, children, or those sensitive to air quality.

What is a candle warmer?

A candle warmer is a stylish, flameless alternative to traditional candles, designed to gently release fragrance without an open flame. Instead of burning the wick, it warms the wax using a heating light bulb allowing the scent to fill your space without smoke, soot, or fire hazards and ensure your favourite candles last longer and smell even more fragrant!

How does a candle warmer work?

A candle warmer gently melts the wax from the top down using a heat source, releasing fragrance without an open flame. This allows for a cleaner and longer-lasting scent experience while preserving the integrity of the wax.

How long do the warming bulbs last?

Most bulbs last between 1,000 to 1,500 hours.

Turning your bulb on and off within a five minute period will shorten the life of the bulb.

Is it safe to leave on for long periods?

Yes, Auren’s candle warmers are designed for extended use and are safer than traditional candles since they don’t have an open flame. However, we recommend turning them off when not in use, just like any other electrical appliance, for safety and energy efficiency.

How will I know when to replace my candle?

Unlike traditional burning, warming a candle doesn’t cause the wax to disappear. Instead, as the candle is repeatedly heated, its fragrance gradually fades over time. Once the scent becomes too weak, it’s a sign that the candle needs replacing. If you’re using one of our candle warmer lamps or lanterns and notice the fragrance diminishing, you can carefully pour the melted wax into an empty glass or metal container for disposal. The remaining solid wax still holds fragrance and can continue to be used.

Does it get hot to the touch? Can I place it on any surface?

The light bulb generates heat, but the base remains safe to touch. However, the top of the candle jar may become warm. Always place the warmer on a flat, heat-resistant surface and avoid covering or placing flammable materials nearby.

Will it work with all candle sizes and wax types?

Auren’s candle warmers are compatible with most standard jar candles. For best results, we recommend using candles with a diameter of 3-4 inches. Wax type does not affect performance, but softer waxes (like soy) may release fragrance more quickly than harder waxes (like paraffin).

Does it make the candle last longer compared to burning?

Yes! Because the wax is melted rather than burned, there’s no wick consumption, meaning the fragrance lasts longer. Once the scent fades, the wax can be replaced or repurposed for other uses.

Is it pet-and child-friendly?

Yes, since Auren’s candle warmers don’t have an open flame, they are a safer alternative for homes with pets and children. However, as with any heated appliance, keep it out of reach of curious hands and paws to prevent accidental contact with warm wax or glass.

How do I clean it? (Especially if wax spills or dust accumulates.)

To keep your Auren candle warmer clean:

• For dust and general cleaning: Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. If needed, use a damp cloth with mild soap, but avoid excessive moisture near electrical components.

• For wax spills: Let the wax cool and harden, then gently scrape it off with a soft plastic tool. Any remaining residue can be wiped with a warm, soapy cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers.

Is the bulb replaceable? What type of bulb does it use?

Yes, the bulb is replaceable. Auren’s candle warmers typically use 50W halogen bulbs to provide the right balance of warmth and ambiance. Always use a compatible replacement bulb to ensure safe operation.

How long does a candle take to start melting?

It depends on the wax type and candle size, but most candles begin melting within 15 minutes to an hour. Softer waxes like soy may start melting faster, while harder paraffin-based candles may take slightly longer.

Does it evenly melt the entire candle, or just the top layer?

Auren’s candle warmers melt the wax from the top down, creating a gradual and even melt. This allows for a consistent fragrance release without burning the wick. Over time, the melted wax pool will deepen, ensuring full use of the candle without tunneling.

Can I use essential oils or wax melts with it?

• Wax melts: If you use a heat-safe dish, you can place wax melts directly in it for fragrance without a jar candle.

• Essential oils: For a flameless, natural home fragrance, use the simmer pot function by placing a heat-safe dish with water on the warmer and adding a few drops of essential oils or natural ingredients like herbs, citrus slices, or spices. However, never place essential oils directly on the warming plate or in candle wax, as this may cause an uneven burn or damage the wax composition.

How long will my candles last with a warmer? (Is it cost-effective?)

Yes! Using a candle warmer can significantly extend the life of your candles, making it a cost-effective alternative to traditional burning. Since the wax is melted rather than burned, the fragrance lasts longer, and there’s no wick consumption. A candle that might burn for 40 hours with a flame can often last twice as long with a warmer, depending on the wax type and fragrance strength. Once the scent fades, the remaining wax can be repurposed, making it an even more economical choice.
